I want to share an important message with you right now, a very important message. You have to hear it. You have to hear it.
You know, God's word is what you live by. God's word is what you live by. You want to always be healthy, then you need the word of God.
You want to always be strong and always victorious. You need the word of God. When we gather together in God's presence, the most important thing is God's word.
That's the most important thing. It doesn't matter what we come to do, the different kinds of meetings. When we have a prayer meeting, we gather to pray, right? If we have an evangelism-inspiring meeting, then we share, discuss evangelism and such testimonies, yes.
But in every one of those meetings, we give a little time to at least hear what the spirit of God has to say to us. Maybe by way of exhortation, maybe by way of instruction or some guidance, God's word is important.
So, I want to share this with you, and it's about Jesus Christ, and why is Jesus deity?
We say that Jesus Christ is deity.
That's a big thing. That's a huge claim for us to say that Jesus Christ is deity. That means that we're saying that Jesus Christ is God.
That's a huge claim.
All around the world, there are people who think that Jesus was just a prophet, so some say he was the last great prophet. Well, that's kind of them to say that, but it's not good enough, because they don't really know who he is.
They say, oh, he was a great teacher. Yes, that's kind, but not good enough. They don't really know who he is.
But I want to give you seven important things from accounts that the Bible gives us to help you understand who this man Jesus really is.
Who is he? Where is he?
1. HIS SUPERNATURAL BIRTH*
Matthew 1:18-25
When Jesus was born, the Bible tells us it was a miracle. It was extraordinary.
It was something that had never happened before. The Bible declares:
"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost."
That's amazing!
Before they came together, Mary was found to be pregnant.
Look at the next verse:
"Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately."
So Joseph wanted to send her away because, I mean, you've not come together with her and she's already pregnant.
So he was troubled.
He says, "No, no, no, but I don't want to disgrace her, I'm just going to send her away."
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying:
"Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."
An angel of God spoke to him and told him that that conception was from God. Not by man.
That's amazing.
When you read another account, read the account of Luke, he gives you the whole story—how the angel came to Mary and gave Mary the information that she was going to have a child.
And she said, "How can I have a child? I'm not yet, I don't have a husband."
And he says, "Don't worry, the Holy Spirit, the power of God will come upon you and overshadow you and you will have a child."
Mary, a virgin, conceived and had this child.
Now we're still reading, keep that scripture up there.
Next verse:
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins."
Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet.
So the Bible says this was in fulfillment of a prophecy.
It didn't just happen by itself—it was in fulfillment of a prophecy.
So Jesus' birth was a fulfillment of prophecy.
Here was the prophecy saying:
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is God with us."
See that?
Alright. Another verse.
Next verse:
"Then Joseph being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him and took unto him his wife."
So he became calm.
Praise God.
That's wonderful.
So His birth was supernatural—not by man, but by God.
That alone is very significant.
2. HIS LIFE WAS A STREAM OF THE MIRACULOUS*
John 20:30-31
"And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book…"
His life was an unending stream of the miraculous and the supernatural. The Bible tells us that there were so many things Jesus did that if they were written, the world itself could not contain the books!
John 21:25
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written."
What a life!
What an extraordinary life he lived.
3. HIS SUPERNATURAL DEATH*
Matthew 27:41-50
Jesus was falsely accused, arrested, and crucified. While He was on the cross, people mocked Him, saying:
"He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He be the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him."
But then, something extraordinary happened:
From the sixth hour (12 noon) to the ninth hour (3 PM), there was darkness over all the land!
And then, Jesus cried with a loud voice:
"Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"
That is to say: "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
At that moment, our sins were laid on Jesus and God turned His back because He is too holy to behold sin.
That was what Jesus was praying about in the Garden of Gethsemane—He didn’t want a moment of separation from His Father.
Then, Jesus said:
"Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit."
And He gave up the ghost.
At that very moment, the veil of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom, and the earth quaked.
4. HIS RESURRECTION*
Romans 1:4 | Acts 13:30-33
"But God raised Him from the dead!"
No prophet came to pray for Him to come out. No righteous man came to pray for Him to come out of the grave.
He resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit!
What does the Bible tell us?
Romans 1:4
"And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead."
The resurrection proved He was the Son of God.
Acts 13:30-31
"But God raised him from the dead: And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people."
That’s amazing!
Acts 13:32-33
"And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second Psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee."
Wow!
The resurrection of Jesus Christ was another fulfillment of prophecy!
Glory to God!
5. HIS ASCENSION*
Luke 24:50-51 | Acts 1:9-11
The ascension was the biggest thing that happened in this world.
Think about it: Jesus' ascension into heaven.
Luke 24:50-51
"And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven."
Wow! That was magnificent!
Let’s read the story of how it happened:
Acts 1:9-11
"And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
He didn’t disappear.
He ascended before their very eyes!
They watched Him go up.
What a moment!
6. THE AUTHORITY OF HIS NAME
Acts 3:16
The name of Jesus is not an ordinary name.
If He were just a man, His name would have no power.
Acts 3:16
"And his name, through faith in his name, hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all."
Through His name, demons flee, the sick are healed, and lives are transformed!
7. THE CLAIM OF SCRIPTURE
1 John 5:20 (AMPC)
"And we have seen and know positively that the Son of God has actually come to this world and has given us understanding and insights progressively to perceive, recognize, and come to know better and more clearly him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ, the Messiah. This man is the true God and eternal life!"
Now you understand I told you the meaning of Christ.
Christ means God in human flesh.
That’s the meaning.
So when you read the literal translation of the anointed, alright, what does that mean?
Why is He called the anointed?
Because it meant the Messiah in Hebrew.
And who was the Messiah supposed to be?
The Messiah was supposed to be God come down in human flesh!
That’s the Messiah they were expecting for generations, as prophesied.
So when Jesus came and said, "Yes, I am the Messiah," they said:
"What?! You are a man, and you call yourself God?"
And that was why they crucified Him.
Got it! Here’s the continuation of the full, exact transcript, picking up from where I stopped:
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GOD!
If you don’t believe in Jesus Christ, what will you believe?
Who then will you believe?
Do you know anyone that has these credentials?
Do you have another Savior?
All religious leaders died and remained dead.
Only Jesus Christ resurrected and ascended alive!
And only His name has power!
John 14:6
"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Acts 4:12
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
